Leave the Children at Home! Parental Romance Mistakes by Lorne Caplan

Monday, September 03, 2012

Coming to the end of another Labor Day, it had become apparent to me, that children, almost on their own, are romance killers. While most parents and people know this intuitively, they seem to wake-up one day when their youngest child turns 18 and goes off to college. When these parents realize that their excuses to avoid interacting with their wife, husband or partner are now gone, the fun (or lack thereof) begins to really get going.

Was this weekend a revelation, or just another confirmation that children, uncontrolled and without direction, are not only devastating to their own parents, but to most other adults that are within ear-shot of the screaming five year old as he runs down the hall banging on every door in the hotel hallway, while his beaten-down parents say below their breath; "shh, shh" which was simultaneously funny, sad and maddening.
