Going 500 Feet Below Ground to Find Romance by Lorne Caplan

Thursday, July 26, 2012

In an effort to find new and exciting ways to express our love and desire, or to  to push romantic limits and boundaries of creativity and expense, the media is fed with all kinds of exotic ideas. Some curiously interesting and others are unveiled as simply promotional gimmicks.

Once in awhile, we are presented with some Romantic options that  appear to be the real deal. They meet the criteria for a romantic retreat, restaurant, gift or other category which Couples Company has laid out in detail before, as well as being realistic, since so many celebrity promoted themes are so financially ludicrous that even the 1% might find them distasteful (like an evening jaunt to a romantic dinner at the Eiffel tower on your private jet, with a stay at the Hotel Intercontinental in Paris for a mere $26,000 per person).

Some are close-by, such as the Ice Hotel in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada during February and for those of us that want to escape the heat of the summer, the Mine Suite at the Sala Silvermine in Sweden, which also boasts an Ice Hotel much further from the shores of the USA. Sure, an expensive hotel suite at the Mandarin Oriental in Manhattan could be just as romantic, but for staying power and as a conversation piece, or just to get your adrenaline going, you can't beat these out-of-the-ordinary retreats.
