These are the gifts generally
given on marriage anniversaries. Does anyone else find this
amusing?
Your guess is as good as ours
when it comes to figuring out who decided to re-write the gift
giving traditions into commercialized versions. It's rather
amusing when you consider the number of marriages which fail in
the first 5 years. Perhaps paper, cotton, leather, fruit and
flowers with wood were a little too inexpensive? Retailers weren't
getting their money's worth? And Diamonds, the commercialized
version has you upgrading at 10, 30 and 60 years. Wasn't the
original one suppose to last forever? And what does this say
about marriage? Capitalism at its finest....
Happy Anniversary!
