This definition of fascism is so broad that it means every state is basically part or completely fascist. Try taking the list of 14 points and applying it to states. Try Iran, try England, try Russia, Japan, Brazil and South Africa. Every state is simply 'fascist' and in making this broad definition it is like defining rape as 'sexual lust' or defining genocide as the death of 3 people.
If great and terrible things, like the period of fascism (1933-1945) are dumbed down so they include everything then it means that the true evils of fascism and Nazism are denied. In a sense what is being said here is that since America has so much in common with fascism and since America is a pretty good place then fascism wasn't so bad, which was not the case.

Response: Thank you for taking the time to read and comment on this. The basic definition is from the Library of Congress. And I agree with you. Whether it is Hitler, Suarto, Bush or Sharon, Fascism is never a good thing. The idea of the article is to point out the warning signs and characteristics so we don't end up with another Germany in America my home or Israel
yours. Unfortunately the policies in both of our countries increasingly defer to fascism. It never looks the same; this is the nature of evil. Denial of reality is also part of the equation. Both of our countries are sliding toward Tyranny. It is up to the people of both of our countries to stop this downhill slide before it is too late. You've got a 30 ft wall in your backyard. How much more
evidence do you need that in Israel, Jewish people live by one set of rules, Christians and Muslims another? 93% of your country is off limits to anyone not Jewish. They cannot buy homes in Jewish only areas, go to school in Jewish only public schools, work in Jewish only businesses or travel on Jewish only streets simply because they are Christian or Muslim. If that is not fascism, what is? Even your press points
this out. That how fascism takes hold, when one group of people believe they are better than another. No where is this more obvious than Israel today. Unfortunately these same ideas are now intruding in the US as well and we are at fault for them in Israel because we the American people continue to fund these policies directly. That money, as an American citizen, makes it my business too. The other countries,
we're not directly blocking them from UN Sanctions or feeding them $10 million dollars a day to continue oppression. We are doing this in Israel. So here's an idea. You wouldn't have read this and responded if you didn't care, which means you do know there are problems. Why don't we focus on what we can change. I'll work on my country. You work on yours and together we can make progress toward
reversing this before it ends up destroy both our countries. Sound like a plan? |

What a load of crap, I find it very interesting how you have manipulated the definition, ever so slightly, to fit your perception of America today. Rampant Sexism, I suppose the fact that we have more women CEOs and in government power (Secretary of State?) than any other country in the world is just an oversight. Supremacy of the Military, it's almost like we have something that states the
MAIN job of the government is our security or something. Controlled Mass Media, are you kidding me? The media has fought the "right" more than any other group/industry, and if you think Fox news is THE real media, your obviously kidding yourself (New York Time, ABC, CNN, etc, etc, etc.). Labor Power is Suppressed, try corrupt, more more is generally what we hear from most union leaders. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption, even you would have to admit
that this is not "Rampant" in America, sure there are many corrupt business men, but there are equally as many corrupt government officials, ones that you probably voted for...
I'll be interested to see if this gets posted, are you true to your democratic purpose?Response: Your issues need to be taken up with the Library of Congress. It's their definition. I just compared it with current events. I'm not sure where you're going with the ranting though. You're kind of all over the place. Very confusing. |

This Nation has been headed in this direction for years, playing one National Party against the other while both parties are striving for the same goals. In the Presidential Elections, the candidates are picked beforehand and the winners are also before the elections are ever held and the votes of the masses mean little since the winners are selected by those at the top of the dog pile. The World Bank and the World
Trade Organization are the only winners in any election and haven't we have seen the assassination of many of our top scientist in this current Administration, especially those who are experts in the field of biological warfare? These scientists, of course, are intellectuals.
I could go on and on but this is enough said in order to provide MY TOTAL AGREEMENT with the above mentioned article.

I thought you might be interested in knowing that there's a nine page discussion about this article here: http://forum.protestwarrior.com/viewtopic.php?t=38560&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 I've cut this from what's probably the most astute commentary
there:
As I said, most of them are either common to totalitarianism in general or don't fit with the regimes supposedly under discussion. Starting from the beginning:
Quote:
"1 Powerful and continuing expressions of nationalism. From the prominent displays of flags and bunting to the ubiquitous lapel pins, the fervor to show patriotic nationalism, both on the part of the regime itself and of citizens caught up in its frenzy, was always obvious. Catchy slogans, pride in the military, and demands for unity were common themes in expressing this nationalism. It was usually coupled with a suspicion of things foreign that
often bordered on xenophobia."
Common to many totalitarian regimes. Look at Asian strains of communism, all of them are staunch nationalists as well as being doctrinaire Marxist-Leninists. Tito used nationalism when the Comintern was trying to kill him. Despite what some on the left would say, nationalism is not limited to any end of the political spectrum. In fact, I would say that nationalism has been by far the most potent 'ism' of the 20th century.
Quote:
"2 Disdain for the importance of human rights. The regimes themselves viewed human rights as of little value and a hindrance to realizing the objectives of the ruling elite. Through clever use of propaganda, the population was brought to accept these human rights abuses by marginalizing, even demonizing, those being targeted. When abuse was egregious, the tactic was to use secrecy, denial, and disinformation."
Ditto.
You're explaining here that human rights violations are common in totalitarian dictatorships. Well color me shocked.

Comments: I always like to here people are discussing this article. That's why I wrote it. As Benjamin Franklin stated when asked about the Constitution, Declaration and other issues by a woman, "What have you given us?", she asked. "A Republic, if you can keep it." Franklin replied. That pretty much
sums it up. I don't know about you, but I'd like to keep it. |

 Hello,
These ideas have been floating around in my head for some time now; all of the thoughts you put up were relevant, but I did not realize that they were all intertwined so neatly.
Thank you for shedding some light on my inability to put 2+2+2+2+2+2+2+2+2+2+2+2+2 together and equal fascism.
Largely, I cannot say that you are wrong, but I cannot exactly say you are right; not yet at least. The pieces are in place, now it is what might happen to stir them to action.
Thank you, also, for informing the masses in a time where information received is comments returned in extremes. I fear that our government has destroyed the 'gray area' of society; and that we now live in a black and white world.
There are more things afoul as well lately; have you seen that the Patriot Act is being *expanded*? That brought many, many alarms to my skull. I believe you just might be right about these times a coming; though I do not wish to try to attempt to overthrow.
I am a man suited for information and the channeling of, not war and reformation; that is not my place =( If it were in my spirit to do so, I would, but I am afraid that I cannot. I wish to be the voice of the people, and I cannot do this whilst being detained or put to death for being an 'enemy of the state,' 'drug dealer,' 'child pornographer,' or any other concoction that this nation could throw against me if it so chose.
As always,
The Firgof JW (M)
Texas Comment: 06/13/05 Some good points Firgof. Fascism, like all evils will never look the same, it always takes a different look each time it is used and chooses something comforting whether fear's need of security, empowering people with a sense of elitism or convincing us we are entitled to the lives, possessions or minds of others. Mel Gibson illustrated this well in
"The Passion of the Christ", evil's seductive and pleasing nature hiding, well, evil. The United States has yet to reach the point of no return, but if Americans do not take our responsibility as citizens and remind those governing us that WE are their bosses, not they our rulers, we could reach that point in the foreseeable future. Getting rid of the Patriot Act is a good place to start. It is unconstitutional. It should
have never passed in the first place. |

In a response to someone who disagreed with you (I believe you were accused of being a secular humanist), you wrote this:” I’m Wisconsin Synod Lutheran, fundamental and very steadfast in my faith. I follow Christ”
I have to ask you what you meant by that? As it has always been taught to me by the Bible and by every church I have attended (non-denominational churches), a Christian is someone who is born-again, believes that Jesus is God in the flesh; that he was conceived by the Holy Spirit, via immaculate conception; that he was crucified and that he died for our sins; that he is resurrected; that he is the only way; and most importantly, that in order to
inherit the kingdom of heaven, you must ask him for forgiveness and pledge him as your personal savior.
The Bible says that unless you meet all of those requirements, you are not a Christian. Now, I don’t know if you are or not, but on your site there is a mockery of Psalm 23, entitled “Psalm 2003.” No Christian I know would post such a blasphemy based on such a treasured verse.
I also disagree with the critiques on George Bush’s “Christianhood.” While I cannot look into his heart and see if his profession of faith is genuine, he has to date never minced words as to what his beliefs are. He has always humbly and respectfully proclaimed what he believes. The Bible says that we should not be ashamed of the gospel and that if we deny Jesus before men, he will deny us before The Father.
Bush is, and has proven himself to be, both a Christian and follower of Christ. RH (M) 26
Richfield, MN, USA Comments: Interesting comments, and I agree with the summaries of the Apostle's Creed and John 3:16 above. However I disagree with you on Bush. Let me explain, though briefly, why. The reason I stated specifically my faith background is to separate myself from other conservative Christians in the United States who follow dispensationalism, the apostate beliefs born in 1830 that
include the rapture, worship of Israel and a drive toward Armageddon. These people follow the likes of Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson and other's, including our President and have done more, in my opinion and many others, to destroy the good works of Christ and Christianity through their actions leading many to believe this hate filled rendition of scripture is Christianity. It is not, not according to the teachings of Christ and I think it is important that non-believers and believers alike know that not all Christians are like our President and the dispensationalists.
Not all worship a foreign country. Not all practice elitism. Not all spout Jesus' words and then do the opposite. Not all hide hatred, apartheid, war, and revenge in God's name. Not all use God for conquest, murder and destruction. Point blank, I do not believe that Bush is following Christ or God in what he is doing on behalf of our nation. I think he believes he is, but read the gospels in context and in full. His actions do not support Christ's
teachings. Ultimately that is the definition of a Christian, we aspire to act as Christ would in all of our affairs. We're human so we don't always succeed. Jesus remains the sole example of man without sin. But there is a difference between one who sins, and one who uses God to sin. Bush uses God to sin. As an American and a Christian, that is unacceptable to me.
I strongly believe the President is following "the dark side" to coin a popular phrase and I base that on his actions, not what he says. The devil or evil if you will. according to the Bible has three main objectives: Steal, Destroy, Murder. Bush has spearheaded each of these in our conquests of Iraq and Afghanistan and our continued support, protection and funding of Israeli apartheid. His actions speak volumes. Jesus would not do these things, and certainly never in God's name. Bush has shown himself to be the definition of hypocrite and a world class liar and continues to mislead the world and the American people. He has shown a lack of compassion; he has used events to gain more power. He plays favorites on the world stage while professing to be fair and balanced. He is a man who goes back on his word. He's failed to uphold his oath of office 100% which requires one thing
and one thing only: That as president he support and defend the Constitution of the United States from all enemies foreign and domestic. He's led the charge via the Patriot Act, even preventing voices in opposition from speaking as recently as today (06/14/05), and other new laws to destroy our Constitution and he's done more damage to our Constitution than any President in history. A Christian wouldn't do that, not a true follower of
the way. I have several examples of each statement above. Perhaps I'll put them into a new article soon. If you want to understand what I mean by Christianity, there is an excellent book entitled "Think Like Jesus " by George Barna. I highly recommend it to anyone of any faith who wants to understand Christianity as well as the competing ideologies further secularizing society including dispensationalism, naturalism, pre and post-millennialism and others. It also makes the hypocrisies of the
"Christian Right" so obvious, they blind. This simple book remains the best description of what I believe to be the essence and intention of Christianity and it looks like you and I are on the same page based upon your definition. What is difficult is separating the image from the actuality. The two, where our president is concerned, define incongruence. Yes, the psalms 23 rewrite may be offensive to some but we posted it to illustrate our President's hypocrisy. I think it makes the point well and it was sent to us by a Christian missionary as an example of how twisted things have become. |

"Thank you for your thoughtful and well-researched piece on fascism.
Those who do not learn from the mistakes of history are doomed to repeat them.
Obviously, America is no Nazi Germany, and that's not what Ms. Lewis is saying.
She is presenting to us -- for our edification -- the characteristics of fascism. Anyone who keeps up with the news can see that at least half of the characteristics also apply - in a far, far, less extreme way than Nazi Germany -- to recent trends in American politics:
The thing to do is to thank Ms. Lewis for bringing it to our attention, and if you're *truly* patriotic, do something to counter it NOW, before things get out of hand. Read the articles + some history books + think about what the woman is writing. Don't let those knees jerk!
Off the very top of my head:
1. Disdain for the recognition of human rights: The current administration's stated disregard for the Geneva Convention - the oldest(?) and previously inviolate (at least officially) human rights treaty currently entered into by the United States clearly falls into this category.
2. Identification of enemies\scapegoats as unifying cause: First it was Saddam, then Bin Laden, now Al Qaeda. At home we have seen politicians try to make labels like 'anti-religion' and 'unpatriotic' stick to groups that disagree with them about ANYTHING.
3. Rampant Sexism: You've got a president who proposed an amendment to the hallowed Constitution of the United States of America that would forbid gays to marry. In our times, not wanting to recognize gay marriage is anyone's choice. But to amend one of our guiding documents to forbid it is extreme. Especially when there is a goodly percentage of people in this land think that we should recognize gay marriage.
4. Controlled mass media: recent hard crackdowns on radio announcers, Janet Jackson's left boob, etc. plus the fact that you NEVER see/hear a story first on TV -- it's always the internet where you see it first -- is a fairly clear indication of controlled mass media. Jeff Gannon is an indication that the white house is looking for someone to portray it in a 'positive' light rather than in a strictly truthful light. (they let him have a press pass vs. a Pulitzer prize winning
journalist)
5. Obsession with National Security: Two words:
Homeland Security
6.Corporate power is protected: Two words: Kyoto
Treaty
7. Disdain for intellectuals and the arts: Some party line politicians are lobbying hard to put more controls on public tv/radio -- this will turn public radio/tv from the last bastion of American intellectualism/arts into another cog in the controlled mass media machine(see above.)
OK that's seven...I'll leave Ms. Lewis to explain the rest in what I hope is an emminent follow-up article.

I thought your article on Fascism excellent. I've been looking for the word -- name -- for where the US is going so fast. Your article describes it.
I particularly like the Warning Signs and 14 Characteristics. We can compare them with here-and-now and the match is plain to see. I also applaud your low-key style on a troubling topic and its implications for a country that once stood for a wonderful idea and ideal. And could again if enough of us engage in the battle.
Two other responses were striking: they look like fearful generalities (not one example to support a point) delivered with disdain. These are interesting times.

11/23/2004 I knew from the start of this article what the ending comments would look like. I just knew it. It´s so predictable: liberal, socialist and secular humanist propaganda.
I am a political exile who escaped from a communist totalitarian regime. I saw family members and friends put in prison for no other reason than refusing to be part of a despotic totalitarian regime that, without even a trial, incarcerated or killed by execution squads all who dared to speak against it or refused to submit to its arbitrary demands. This horrendous regimes (based on the same Secular Humanistic worldview that serves as the foundation for the worldview of the socialists in the US), where all
freedoms we enjoy in America are suspended, and where culture, society and the economy are systematically destroyed by the Marxist elite in power, who uses the media as a propagandistic and brainwashing tool and the specialized military police for repression, have killed tens of millions of people since the first quarter of the 20th Century, and still do.
You and your twisted view of the world and your appeasing whimpering and socialist-communist garbage can make any decent human being sick! All spoiled and pampered left wing (socialist) like you should be taken down from their ivory towers and sent to a communist country, like Cuba, not as tourists, but to live with the regular population for one year, without the benefit of the US dollar. I can assure you all will be cured forever from the stupidity of their socialistic and anti American ideologies.
Then again, perhaps their ideological cancer is so terminal that no amount of Cuba therapy or any other anti socialist treatment will ever be enough to save them. If you believe the problem is this country, then, move to Canada, France or Germany. If the United States of America is so horrendous to you and has become a fascist state, if you hate it so much that you agree with the socialists in this country who are proposing a stupid (communist) theory of doing away with the Electoral College and of
secession of the blue states from the “poor and stupid” red states, why stay and be miserable, get out. Nobody is holding you back! In the mean time, know this: people like me, who love this country and really appreciate the freedom it has given millions here and around the world, will stay to make sure that the “Land of the Free” does not become the land of the godless, amoral, and humanistic socialists slaves.
Mike (M) 45

Response: She's Liberal, no she's conservative, no she's a secularist, a communist, what else did you call me? This is good. You may want to check out your definitions. As the writer I can tell you I am a conservative. What that means is I believe in small decentralized government, personal accountability instead of litigious results and bigger government, few laws, charity through personal or corporate groups and no whining.
It's called a Federalist viewpoint; it is against both socialism and communism and it mirrors our founding father's vision. Just read the Federalist Papers.
I wrote this article in July 2002 and updated it in January 2004...where do I talk about blue states, red states and the electoral college? We didn't even know who the Democratic candidate was going to be until February 2004. Where is that anger coming from? As far as being a secularist, you obviously have not been reading my Op-eds or the criterion we use to determine our position on the homepage of Politics. For the record, I'm Wisconsin Synod Lutheran, fundamental and very steadfast in my
faith. I follow Christ. Your response above is illustrative of a key problem in this country. You've fallen for the propaganda rather than look at the information; you're categorizing based on talking points, dismissing by attempting to channel information into "liberal" or "conservative", Marxist, Communist, Socialist etc... You can thank Rush Limbaugh for that. He started the conservative vs. liberal
categorizing in 1989. What such labels are is classic propaganda a tactic, divide and conquer. Focus people on the origin rather than the facts thus discrediting the messenger on prejudicial preconceptions. It closes your mind to ideas, basically. Instead of labeling me, why don't you prove me wrong on my opinion that we've hit all 14-points of Fascism, rather than attempt to dismiss the article because you misinterpret it to mean my criticism of current policies is hatred for my country?
If you can do this, we'll be happy to publish your essay. But let's not stoop to name calling. That is so FOX News and we really can do better than that. Characterization is simply a red herring and an attempt to marginalize me. Nice try. Let's dispel a common misconception. Our founding fathers told us not to trust the government because by its very nature power corrupts. Thomas Jefferson stated the most
patriotic thing an American can do is object to policies which undermine the integrity of America, our constitution and our way of life. Our Declaration of Independence reiterates this. You might try reading it before dismissing the information characterizing the elements of Fascism. You'll notice upon reading it our founding fathers were objecting to nearly the same issues we face today with our own
government. Patriotism in America is loyalty to the Constitution, its principles and its ideas. Patriotism is not loyalty to an individual, agenda, action or party. When you become loyal to an individual, agenda, action or party, principles fall in favor of personalities ushering in rulers rather than leaders. The United States was never meant to be ruled. This is why power is equally divided into the
Legislative, Judicial and Executive branches by our Constitution. The United States is meant to be led. This administration, by circumventing the Constitution and compounding power within the executive branch is not leading. It is ruling. As it is ruling, it is up to us as Americans, liberal, conservative and independent, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Wicken and all other faiths or lack of to come together and cry foul. This is what the Declaration of Independence and our
Constitution says we must do as American citizens. The Constitution is something we all can agree on. It is the common ground that makes America great. Understanding how this administration, (with the help of previous administrations) achieved all 14 points of Fascism is the first step. Eliminating labels of conservative and liberal or even religions references and replacing them with American citizen is the second. We're all in this together. Thanks for your comments. The fact you read the article shows you're questioning and that's the first step, even if right now you are offended. -LDL |

I have this same thought a long time ago. I believed that we are living in a fascist regime and what most scares me is the fact that the majority of the Americans do not want to recognize the symptoms. In a false demonstration of "patriotism" and "moral values", they voted Bush four more years in the White House at the expenses of our economy and the youth of America dying in Iraq, not to free the Iraqis but to secure the oil for the ruling elite.
It is disgusting to claim patriotism when we prefer murder and imperialism to give rights to those than because they feel they lived in a free society, they can choose who to marry. I am a heterosexual woman and happily married and although I do not like the idea that 2 people of the same sex marry, I am in favor of protecting their rights of partnership with a civil union. Furthermore, it is so hypocritical to claim, that we respect the sanctity of marriage when we have one of highest rates of
divorce and when we know that women abuse at the hands of their husbands is higher than ever.
GE (F) 38
Kenner, LA Response: Thank you Your letter gives me the opportunity to address something I'm increasingly seeing: focusing on peripheral issues rather than the root causes. Distraction issues like Gay Marriage, Social Security and Illegal Immigration, these are important, but without the US Constitution and Bill of Rights, they are null and void.
We wouldn't have the right to discuss marriage let alone decide its definition. Without the Constitution, we couldn't even discuss Illegal Immigration. We wouldn't even be able to have a say in whether Social Security exists or not. We'd be told what we would have to accept. These issues are being used to divide people and deflect attention from the core issues, predominantly the destruction of the US Constitution and our rights.
This is also a propaganda technique. Get the people worked up over side issues and focused on these while the real problems gain in strength. By the time people realize what they've lost fighting about issues that ultimately become obsolete without the rights, it is too late. Other issues like celebrity gossip, Laci Peterson and reality TV are being used to placate people...entertain the masses and keep you occupied so you don't notice what is happening. This creates
cognitive dissonance, the state in which people are most easily manipulated. When I was a little girl, the checkout counter at the grocery featured Newsweek, Business Week, Life and other news magazines. Today though one of these may show up, it is all Celebrity Gossip, Fashion, Sex and other distractions that don't really do much but
entertain and keep people focused on lesser issues. Everyone knows about Laci Peterson. How many know four AIPAC officials were subpoenaed on charges of spying on the United States by the FBI December 2, 2004? The
official response is that the AIPAC employees are "loyal to their country" inferring the United States. Their country is Israel as the majority of its employees are Israeli citizens, even if they also may have American citizenship. This is not an American institution even though "American" is in the title. It is run out of Israel with its interests as its agenda. Semantics, but propaganda generally relies on this. To put it in perspective, which has more impact on the average American: the
murder of a woman and her unborn child by her husband in California or the uncovering of a major spy operation in the United States that could compromise us physically, monetarily and diplomatically for the next fifty years? Seems the spy, (just one of 4 Israeli spy groups busted in the USA this year alone) is more important to all Americans. Yet you probably didn't even know about it. That is how distraction issues work. They crowd out the real stories that do impact you allowing the average
person to stay blissfully unaware of the big picture. And you're right. People sacrificed their own welfare by voting Bush in again because they believe he is "Christian". Why else would a single mother vote for a man who makes policies for the ultra rich while taking programs away from her that hurt her and her family? She sacrifices her own children for an image. Though the President may
refer to himself as a Christian, he is not a follower of Christ. (Demonstrating the difference between today's definition of Christian in the United States and a Follower of Christ as the Gospels define Christian will require several articles which we will be posting over the next several months in our Inspirations section. This distinction is also why I refer to myself as a Follower of Christ rather than a Christian. What Christianity has become in the United States is not what Christ
taught or advocated). If not a Follower of Christ, what is President Bush? Based upon his actions, statements and policies, President Bush is a dispensationalist, an apostate Christian sub-cultural movement which goes against the Gospels, places emphasis on the Old Testament instead of the New while distorting Christianity in favor of
Chiliasm, (which is the foundation of the modern Dispensationalist Movement). This apostasy of millions, (falling away) from Christianity is the primary motivation for the destruction of Iraq, Afghanistan,
Palestine and soon Iran, which is why The President is positioned as a "good Christian". There is nothing Christian about this. The Catholic Church did the same thing to persuade people from 1095-1300. This has all been done before. Even the excuses, (except for WMD's which didn't exist at the time of the first Crusades) are the same. The Catholics ultimately lost all seven Crusades and this ushered in the reformation and other changes. They know better, which is one reason
the Pope continues to object strongly and the forces have gathered to marginalize the Catholic Church with scandal. In truth, pedophilia occurs with the same frequency in all faiths including Judaism, Islam, Buddhism and others. It was used in this instance to distract and marginalize the loudest voice against the agenda. The "Oil for Food" issue is being used to the same ends to marginalize the United Nations. Notice nobody seems worried about the
eight BILLION dollars missing in Iraq via US sources. We're talking a few million with Oil for Food. What about the billions? Seems that is a little more important, doesn't it? An anecdotal illustration of how far from true Christianity the President now stands occurred when he was asked who his favorite philosopher is.
The President answered "Jesus Christ". Why is this a problem? Philosopher is how those who reject Christ as the Messiah, the Pharisees, refer to Him since they cannot completely eliminate Him from history. It is an attempt to marginalize Him. The President would have to actually read philosophy to understand that, but he does not like to read. CS Lewis one of the foremost Christian authors of the nineteenth century said it best, (paraphrasing) "Christ is either the Messiah or a lunatic, there
is no middle ground." This is one example of an inconsistency in the President's comments as a "man of God". Jesus Christ is not a philosopher to Christians. He is the Messiah, God in human form ergo His words are not those of a philosopher. His words are the direct words of God. Key point in Christianity and Islam, (which also believes He is the Messiah in most sects and is also awaiting His second coming). Propaganda has
eliminated this distinction from Christian consciousness. It has also vilified Islam which is as close to Christianity as one can get without being Christian! President Bush demoted Jesus from Messiah to philosopher and didn't even realize it. Worse, nobody called him on it! This is how propaganda works. It redefines reality to fit the agenda and religion is just one of the most powerful tools. Thanks for
providing an opportunity to address it! This is one heavily loaded issue that really needs to be addressed. -LDL |

Bush's Medical Malpractice Flip-Flop For Doctors

President Bush and doctors, who think they're God, are a high risk and threat to patients because Bush flip-flopped the fact that legitimate lawsuits against doctors won millions fairly for patients who had meritorious lawsuits against the doctors who committed medical malpractice. Bush says in bad faith, "We must confront the junk and frivolous lawsuits that are driving up the cost of health care and hurting doctors and patients". (see
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory?id=231816
Bush and doctors are afraid of patients exercising their first amendment right to file meritorious lawsuits complaining about medical malpractice and constitutionally demanding a fair and impartial jury to decide, measure and award damages for injury fairly. Doctors think they're God when really they're "mammon" that George W. Bush serves so well in order to maximize their profits sky high to the detriment of ordinary people. George W. Bush places the wealth of doctors and insurance companies (mammon) above the health
of patients by allowing the insurance companies and doctors with judgments against them to pass on their damage by making innocent people pay, including innocent patients and doctors.

Dear Ms. Laura Dawn Lewis:
I read with interest your recent essay on fascism, but was disturbed by the general theme of the piece, and thought I’d just send you a quick note about it. From both an historical standpoint, and from a current one, I think you’ve made some conclusions that really go against the preponderance of objective facts.
Primarily, you really must not let your obvious bitter disappointment with the results of the 2004 election overwhelm your abilities to reason, and think clearly. The United States is not a fascist state. It never has been, and never will be. You talk at length about Nazi Germany, but I really wonder if your emotions have led you to make a comparison that is truly unfair, and invalid. Read a little more on fascism, and the true roots of its rise, and fall, and I think you’ll see clearly that George W. Bush is not
a Hitler.
Sincerely Yours:

Response: This article was written 28 months before the 2004 election and augmented in January 2004 when CAPPS II passed before Kerry was even confirmed as the Democratic Candidate. The election had no impact whatsoever on the content of the article. I will be doing an article that illustrates how the US fulfills all 14-points and now includes all 7 warning signs since many are having trouble seeing this. Also I've never said George W Bush is
a Hitler, but there are commonalities to the way he thinks, acts and the policies he promotes. Nazi Germany is simply the most well-known example of Fascism. To compare him with Suharto, Mussolini or Idi Aman does little good. Most people are not familiar with these names and know very little about their rule. Fascism never looks the same. We will not see goose-stepping soldiers but the American version of the
brown shirts, those who spy on their neighbors and turn them in for not supporting their agenda, is alive and well. I'll cover this along with examples in the essay as well. Here's an example of fascism the media has been overlooking that will also be included along with the documentation this Administration tried to destroy: Look at the fine print in the Mortgage Applications beginning with
July 2004. To get a house you must now pledge to support the "War on Terror". Not supporting it could be as simple as writing an op-ed denouncing fascism or attacks on civil liberties. Should the Federal Government decide you are not "supporting" their war on "terror", they can now take your house. By agree to the mortgage, you just gave them permission to do this. This little insert into the fine print works like RICO, giving the government full ability to confiscate your assets if they decide you do
not like what they are doing and try to do something about it. In January 2004 a series of papers went out to several departments of the government within Homeland Security
outlining this policy
of appropriation of US citizen personal property to fund this "War on Terror", (their words, using personal assets to fund this war on terror, not mine). In New York, during August 2004, the Federal Government attempted to burn and destroy this manual. Fortunately a few true patriots saved a portion of them from the incinerator. It is prohibited for the US Government to destroy any official documents relating to policy. They were caught red
handed trying to do this before the election. This is just one example. Today's version of fascism comes under the label of Zionism and it has infiltrated both the American Evangelical Christian Church and large portions of the Jewish faith, those that focus on Talmudic rather than Torah laws and lessons. Our version of Fascism uses faith as the rallying cry and justification, advocating atrocities while blinding its followers in
patriotism to a foreign nation, even to the extent they insist upon the releasing of spies caught endangering us all. Their fervor is such that they will sacrifice everything for this political manifestation they worship, just like the Germans did during the late 1930's and early 1940's. Even the slogans, with slight changes to nouns referenced are the same. The people around Bush, those providing advice, guidance and
motivation, these people are self-confirmed Trotskyites, supremacists and on a mission to control and rework the entire world. They have no problem stating that. They do believe in Fascism; they detest anything that gives power to anyone other than their little group and they consistently pass legislation through our Congress and Judicial system to further allow their power to increase and block any person questioning or standing up to them. When I complete the article with the examples of each
14 points and 7 warning signs, this will be clear. Americans need to be loyal to the Constitution, not a man or a party. This partisanship, dividing people by Liberal/Conservative, Religious/Secular, democrat/republican is a propaganda technique used throughout history effectively. This is not about "Getting Bush". Bush is irrelevant. It is about staying true to the foundations of this country, our constitution. If we as a people stay true to our constitution, fascism can never take
hold in the United States. Currently we do not stay true and currently this administration is passing and continues to pass legislation that destroys the Constitution, rather than respects it. We'll let you know when we get the essay up going through all 14 points and 7 warning signs. Until then thanks for your comments.--LDL |

This is more of a question than a comment. I am a university student from England studying electronic engineering, and in reading your article I noticed the line: "at that time we were researching political structures based on the actions of a specific US ally claiming to be a democracy."
I wondered if this referred to England? To be honest I don't know much about politics, which is why I was reading the article.
I looked at “The 14 Defining Characteristics Of Fascism” and in my experience none of them really seemed applicable. (Point one, For example, powerful nationalism. I quite like living in England, but I don't have any kind of fanatical devotion to it and nor does anyone I've ever met. About the only time I ever see an England flag is when there's an international soccer game.)
As I said I don't know much about politics and essentially I wanted to know. If it is England referred to in the quote above. Would you be able to give me any examples of how any of these 14 characteristics apply? Response: Not in this case. I have not studied England's current policies in-depth so I couldn't tell you if your country is heading down our road. The ally is Israel, which I have been studying in-depth for many
years as US money and support are the sole reasons it is allowed to continue its carnage and apartheid, something as an American and follower of Christ I cannot endorse and strongly disagree with. Israel is not and never has been a democracy, that is one of those Urban Myths. Nearly sixty years later, they still do not have a constitution. Non-Jews are prohibited from owning or leasing property in 93% of the country. Non-Jews are blocked from working in most Jewish only stores. Then
of course there are the Jewish only houses, Jewish Only neighborhoods, Jewish only schools, Jewish only businesses. Jewish only resorts. Jewish only roads and Jewish only healthcare, (several non-Jewish reporters I work with have been turned away from healthcare in Israel with injuries like cuts, broken bones and burns because they are not Jewish. The first question when entering a clinic wasn't, "What is wrong with you?" It was, "Are you Jewish?" When each said no, they were
told they did not treat non-Jewish patients. This is also a little known fact and practice, though not all Israelis are this racist nor do all approve of such discrimination,) Based upon its policies it is a Militaristic, Theocratic, Representative Republic for Caucasion Jews (Non-white Jews are often discriminated against and treated like second class citizens. But even they are above the Arabs). Israel is a
Militaristic, Theocratic, Fascist, Republic (within non-occupied territory) or Dictatorship (within Occupied territory) for all non-Jewish citizens and non-citizens i.e.: occupied people. Israel is an apartheid state, considered far worse than South Africa by Mandela himself. Israel is the world's foremost supplier of white slavery, ecstasy, state funded abortions, pornography, identity theft and web based scams, state sanctioned torture and the Middle East capital for homosexuality, important to
note since its primary supporters and underwriters object to these actions anywhere but in Israel. The country itself is as immoral as immoral can get if one considers morality to be the laws of Moses and the New Testament, which I do. All of these activities are well documented by Israel itself which calls itself the Jewish State but professes it is secular. The faith is a shield and weapon. Nothing else. Very few in Israel actually practice it.
Unfortunately the US appears to be doing its best to usurp Israel in cruelty, lawlessness, invasion and conquest. Given our conduct over the past 3 1/2 years, we are sure to surpass Israel's 85 UN sanctions, (we invaded Iraq citing its sanctions even though it had less than 25. This hypocrisy is a common element of propaganda and fascism). With Israel it was obvious because their Talmudic based laws create racism by the very fact they believe themselves to be
above all other people and chosen. The US was harder to spot, but since we are now talking about deporting and detaining Arabs and applying these laws to our own citizens, along with the Patriot Act and several other indicators, it is now obvious. (This idea, internment and deportation is being tested out on talk radio. If you want to find out where the government wants to go over the next several years, they always test these ideas in public forums. What is frightening is that people actually
think this is a good idea and do not see this as fascism in the United States). A very simple truth: A country cannot be a democracy and a theocracy. It is impossible. Theocracy is about exclusion based upon a specific criteria, faith. Democracy is about complete inclusion with no exclusion. All members of society are equal in voice and status. Even the US is not a democracy. Our primary structure is a
Representative Republic.
Democracy and Theocracy are direct polar opposites. There is no synergy. As long as Israel identifies itself as Jewish and promotes Judaism as its reason for existence, it can never be a democracy. It would have to separate Church and State to begin with and it would have to abolish all laws prohibiting ownership or leasing to non-Jewish citizens of 93% of its land. Homeownership...the ability to own private property by anyone with the means is a hallmark
of a republic or democracy. Israel does not have this. It never has.. Now as a foreign nation if Israel wants to be a fascist country it is their choice; but choosing fascism over a republic or democratic system, which is inclusive of all its citizens and wards in my opinion exempts it from US support. As a nation our principles prohibit state sanctioned racism, apartheid, ethnic cleansing or oppression of any
people based upon race, origin, creed or sex. Currently it uses US support support, money, weapons or influence to carry it out fascism. Fascism is against the US Constitution and our values as Americans, thus defined should never halt a borders if we are involved. Unfortunately these Israeli values are becoming American values and with each act of pre-emption and the negation of our Constitution, we slide further into the mire with this little nation. Worse, through this sliding, Americans
increasingly give up our rights to feel "safe". This is also a leading indicator of a nation sliding toward full-fledged fascism. Fascism melds industry with government expanding the power of government, centralizing it and encouraging greater dependency upon it. Democracy and Republics separate government from industry and demand government remain small, unobtrusive and decentralized. |

Concerning your "interesting note" at the end of the article. Which America do you live in. What a bunch of liberal propaganda. Your note totally discredits the rest of your article.JS (M) 33
