Now
that certain factions in this great nation are screaming that Mel Gibson's
movie is a violation of the Patriot Act, I wish to make it clear that I
think this is most certainly a double standard these people seem to have.
They say that they know more about the Holocaust then anyone because they
were there. You know I certainly agree with them, but by the same
token couldn't this be applied to the survivors of the deliberate attack
on the USS Liberty? They were there, they saw it all, so how can people
like A.J. Cristol (Author of the Liberty Incident) try to convince others
that the men who survived the attack didn't see what they thought
they saw. Were they so traumatized that they don't know what they are
talking about? Then I would say that the Holocaust survivors were in the
same boat so to speak. So what we have is a double standard as far as I am
concerned. I never cease to be amazed by this.

I would very
much like to thank you for the excellent coverage of the Liberty story on
your tasteful web site. I was once assigned duty aboard the Liberty... when
I was transferred, I was relieved by JE. I know the story about the Liberty
and feel it is a shame that congress won't investigate and determine the
truth of the attack. Much testimony is available now... most importantly,
that testimony of Capt. Ward Boston, who was a major figure in the Naval
Court of Inquiry and who now says the Court was a sham and a fraud and the
outcome was directed by above. The survivors have taken a beating by their
own country -- web sites like yours help to get the story out. Many thanks!

I
will keep it simple. I monitored the Israeli air-to-air and air-to-ground
communications in this incident and the fact is, and our still classified
records will show, that the Israelis knew exactly who they were attacking
and the order was "no survivors". The communications showed that they were
very upset over their inability to accomplish that mission!

Yes,
indeed, I firmly believe that the assault on the USS Liberty was deliberate
because I have met one of the survivors, when we traveled with a tour group
in MX in 1991. He told me about that attack and that he as well as all other
survivors were told that if they spoke about it being a deliberate attack,
they would be put in jail....or worse...
Last year, I met with Sen. Arlan Spector of
PA, where I live, at a town meeting and questioned him in that public forum
about the attack and asked him to help reopen this investigation. I felt he
would be receptive because he had been Chairman of the Armed Services
Committee for 6 years of the time he has been in the US Senate...He acted
like he never heard of the Liberty. I knew then that he was part of the
cover-up in this Congress because he has Israeli connections and a great
deal of money is contributed to his election campaigns by the Israeli Lobby.
Very, very sad to know that our treasured servicemen have been so poorly
treated just to protect the reputation of Israel. I can imagine that our
Israeli allies do not want all of our financial support to be cut off...I
see by current news that they are treating the Palestinians in a similar
manner as the survivors of the Liberty .....giving them no voice in the
media and silencing those in public office to give equal notice of the
murder of Palestinians. I am very am saddened that our country can be so
easily swayed by the most powerful Lobby in Washington to disavow facts.

Thank
you so very much for printing the moving story of the Liberty and her
courageous crew. The suffering endured by the survivors is acute and
what they've been through is intolerable - not only enduring the attack
itself and having their own government side with their attackers, but
being subjected to personal vilification by supporters of Israel.
My husband was among the 34 killed that day, and I have never forgotten
the sound of his voice - or the sound of his laughter. He was such a
special person and when I lost him, I lost a part of myself. I
especially appreciate your naming the 34 men and reprinting their
biographies and pictures. That made it more personal for your readers
and brought a deeper awareness of who was lost when these men were
killed.
Your article was excellent, and your observations about why we have
Memorial Day, and the "entertainment" aspect of the invasion of Iraq
were insightful. I have bookmarked your website and intend to visit it
frequently.
Thank you for raising your voice in support of the Liberty crew.
Eventually enough voices will force a Congressional Investigation, and
that's all the crew has ever asked.
On this Memorial Day, I pray for all those who have given their lives so
that we might live freely. I don't know their names, but I am grateful
- and God knows who they are.

Congratulations!
You've not only given (new) meaning to the words patriotism and truth with
your superb accounting of the circumstances and personalities surrounding
the Israeli Assault on the USS Liberty (AGTR-5), June 8, 1967- But you
have also revealed your journalistic brilliance and made the United States
Navy, the Liberty crew and your country proud!
I salute you on
this solemn day of remembrance.

Thanks
for your story on the USS Liberty. Sadly, most "journalists" would rather
hide under their bed, than report on the Liberty. Freedom of speech
becomes censored, and whispers become too faint in regards to the
atrocities of the American sailors and marines--that served aboard the
Liberty.
I am proud to be part of a military family, but I am also proud when
Americans like yourself speak on behalf of others. To the crew and family
of the USS Liberty may your voice be heard, if not, let the echo be felt.

What
a wonderful thing to do....honor our fallen shipmates. Your effort and
the efforts of others is what will sustain the memory of those killed.
I encourage my shipmates and their children to continue the effort by
starting similar websites and by soliciting schools that they attend to
name a wing of the school in honor of those killed. This is the way that
their memory will continue after we are gone....
Thanks so much on behalf of all the crew (1964-1967).

As I sit this
morning and think of my fallen shipmates in the USS Liberty on this
Memorial Day I am refreshed to see an article like yours. I can't thank
you enough for writing that article .
Through out the years when things looked grim and somber we Survivors get
a glimmer of hope from people like you. Thank you for making my Memorial
Day a special one of good temperance.

Thank
you for publishing this article! I served aboard the Liberty as Supply
Officer for three years, but was discharged from the Navy two months
prior to the attack. This is a story that needs to be told.
My very
sincere thanks for your remembrance of the Liberty. I was the Research
Officer on that fateful day and 28 of those killed worked for me. We have
yet to convince Congress that the attack needs investigating even though
it's been proven that most of the official documentation of the event was
fraudulent. Your effort on our behalf is appreciated.

As
a survivor of the deliberate attack on the USS Liberty, June 8, 1967 I
want to thank you for what you have put out to the public on your web
site. I will be roaming this site from time to time, and also thank
you for honoring some of our lost shipmates. There aren't many true
Americans left, and I count you as one.

 I
wanted to express my thanks for you including the USS Liberty. It's
disgraceful that they have been largely overlooked for almost 36
years. However, you didn't and for that you are to be commended.
All the best,
