I really, really have to disagree with you advice on how to get good customer service. CSRs are humans and approaching us with anger will backfire every time. The better, and more effective approach, is to calmly explain your situation and level of frustration you are feeling and ask them to please assist you in solving the problem. Someone working on your side will get a lot more accomplished for you than someone who is immediately put on the defensive by a rude attitude. BTW, I have worked in customer service for 2 years and customer's "threats" of sending letters are usually empty, so that in no way will scare a rep or inspire them to perform exceptionally.

Are you serious? Any self respecting CSR would challenge this customer up front! I really hope no one does this, the customer will get treated with anger. The customer is not the customer service rep's boss and never has any real impact on a raises or termination. I am not supporting bad customer service, but making the CSR at ease will simply hurt the customer.

Probably not a good idea for this reader to try working at Nordstom or any place else that insists on happy customers.  Collections might be a good fit though!  Thanks for the comments ML.
